Re: Igbo Women League Fundraising 2021
The Igbo Women League of Minnesota (“IWL”) would like to solicit your support as we celebrate our 26th
Mother’s Day Drive-Thru Celebration
on Saturday, May 8th, 2021, at the Brooklyn United Methodist Church
7200 Brooklyn Blvd., Brooklyn Center, Minnesota 55429
from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. This is an annual fundraising event to support the projects that we undertake
in order to fulfill the many objectives of the organization.
IWL is a non-profit organization that is committed to unifying, identifying, educating and promoting the
socio-cultural and economic development of Igbo Women and their families residing in Minnesota, while improving
women and children’s lives in Nigeria.
Based on generous donations in past years, IWL has been able to support and equip ten orphanages in Nigeria.
These orphanages abound in Nigeria due to the high incidence of death of women of childbearing age.
We have also set up scholarship funds for the educational advancement of 54 female students from low-income
families in Nigeria. These scholarship funds cover educational costs from junior high through senior high school
for these students. Twenty-eight of our scholarship recipients have graduated from high school. With your support,
we made it a reality to sponsor those students through the university,
technical school and/or apprenticeship program.
All these and other projects cannot be sustained without your generous support and contributions.
Other ways you can assist us include sponsoring a student for one year ($400) or more; advertising your business
or recognizing the important women in your life in our brochure; or making a donation on the day of the event.
We will greatly appreciate your support as we work tirelessly to achieve our numerous objectives.
Checks can be made out to IWL and mail, as IWL is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization,
donations are tax deductible.
