Message from Mother's Day Chair
Every year, Igbo Women League of Minnesota (IWL) celebrates its annual Mother’s Day. We are very thankful for your
continued support and generosity towards this noble organization's projects through the years. In continuation of
this noble tradition, this year we are kicking off our annual Mother’s Day celebration with a 5k/1k run/walk on
May 7th 2016 at Central Park in Brooklyn Park from 09:00am. Registration is $20.00 per individual, $50.00 for the
family and $10.00 for children under 12 years. More information on registration can be found on our website www.igbowomenleaguemn.org.
I encourage you to join us for this great outdoor activity.
We also ask you to join us for the annual Mother’s Day Celebration and fundraising event on May 14th 2016 at
Army National Guard Armory, 1025 Broadway Street NE, Minneapolis, MN 55413. This is a free community event. Our theme for this year’s Mother’s
Day Celebration is: Celebrating Motherhood and Youth Empowerment.
The IWL Mother’s Day event is the major fundraising event for our numerous projects here in Minnesota and Nigeria.
These projects include Support for motherless babies’ homes in Nigeria, educational support through scholarship awards
to less privileged school girls in secondary and tertiary institutions in Nigeria. The Youth Mentoring and Leadership
program for Children of African Descent here in Minnesota is also supported by your generous support through IWL.
We count on your presence and generous support for the continuation of these noble projects. Donations can be made
through our secured website www.igbowomenleaguemn.org.
I thank you in advance for gracing our events with your presence.
Thank you for helping us to make a difference in our community.
Yours Truely,
Mrs. Ngozi Beatrice Abakporo
